Faculty

Because the initial academic plan for UCI and the university itself were created simultaneously, the input of the original faculty was important to the final design of the curriculum. At UCI, the result was an innovative academic structure. The outcomes of the initial 1964 academic plan have been instrumental in attracting and retaining renowned faculty. In the 50 years since it was founded, UCI has gained national and international prominence by attracting faculty of high caliber who have been awarded countless academic distinctions, including 3 Nobel Prizes, as well as entrance to the most distinguished learned societies.
