Newspapers

UCI has had a long tradition of student-run publications since opening in 1965.  During the school's nascent years, funding for such projects was limited, but the need for a student voice on campus led students to find their own funding.  Eventually the university set aside monies for student publications.  The journalistic landscape on campus was overseen by the official student newspapers which covered general campus events, student life and sports.  Nineteen years later, an alternative to these papers appeared on newsstands when students began publishing special-interest newspapers.   Through such media students have had a platform to give their perspectives on the university, the nation and the world. Both official and special interest newspapers still thrive at UCI.

Countless other student publications are issued as well.  This web page includes only those that qualify as newspapers.
